Whatever your big triggers are, find ways to avoid them.</p>

<p><strong>Eat well and exercise: </strong>First of all, avoid those particular foods that make you want to smoke the most, and replace them with healthy, nutrient-rich foods that will speed your detox and recovery.</p>
<p>And to make your recovery go even more smoothly, exercise for at least an hour every day. This will give you a nice endorphin rush to replace your cigarette satisfaction, and it will also help get your post-nicotine metabolism back on track.</p>
<p><strong>Use alternative stop-smoking aids: </strong>The best way to quit is to go cold turkey—completely avoiding all nicotine and nicotine replacement products. However, going cold turkey doesn’t mean that you can’t use other methods to make the process go better. Since lots of smokers aren’t the healthiest people in the world, part of what makes the withdrawal process last so long is that their bodies’ systems are a little sluggish.</p>

<p>If all of that wasn’t bad enough, I haven’t even addressed the most important thing about how smoking affects your sex life. Maybe in your little circle of friends, smoking is still cool. But in the larger world, nobody likes it anymore. In fact, they find it ugly.</p>
<p>Have you been getting rejected for dates? If so, it’s probably because you walk around with a big label on your forehead saying “Filthy Smoker!” You may not think so, but believe me—we can smell you.</p>
<p>If this is news to you, it’s time to wake up. When a date is turned off by your smoking, they usually don’t tell you. You just never hear from them again, and you’re left alone, crying into your pillow and wondering why.</p>

<p>Many of us naively think that employers hire people purely based on credentials, education, and experience. But in the real world, countless other factors are taken into account.</p>
<p>And let’s be clear about this: When you walk into the room for an interview, how you smell is a major component of your first impression.</p>
<p>If you’re a savvy interviewee, you probably put a lot of thought and effort into your outfit and your hair. You may have even gone out and bought a new suit. But if you make the mistake of smoking before an interview, all of this will go for nothing. In this case, the price of smoking is a new outfit and a potentially lucrative salary.</p>
<p>And as a general rule of thumb, the better a job pays, the less kindly they will take to your habit. Want to work at Burger King? Smoke to your heart’s content. But if you want a cushy office job that lets you surf the net all day while making 6 figures, you’re going to have to conform to the anti-smoking culture.</p>
<p>You may not like it, but it just makes financial sense. So when you think about long-term effects of smoking please take this into consideration.</p>
<p>And if you already have a job, have you been wondering when that big promotion is going to come? If so, have you considered the possibility that your addiction is working against you? You might be surprised by what your superiors say behind closed doors.</p>
<p><strong>The Health Cost of Tobacco</strong></p>
<p>We all know that smoking causes your health to deteriorate and eventually kills you. That’s news to no one. But what we often forget is that these health problems can lead to thousands of dollars of extra costs down the line. As your body really starts to fall about in 15-20 years, you’re going to have to be shelling out wads of dough just to keep yourself sort of intact. These are true costs of smoking.</p>
<p>When you combine this with the 5 or 10 dollars you drop every day to support your habit, we’re talking tropical-vacation amounts of money. Ever dream of going to the Bahamas? If so, you might be smoking those blue skies and sandy beaches right into your charred and blackened lungs. That’s just not nice.</p>
<p>In other words, quit smoking today, and start planning your tropical vacation for next year. If you don’t, plenty of tobacco company executives would be happy to go in your place.</p>
